<< [home] [indonesian] >> Q: I see ministers on television who have the healing power of God flowing in their ministries. Every time I watch them, I almost cry because I know so many sick people and I wish I could lay hands on them and minister healing too. Although I’m a new believer, I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to get God to give me that ability? A: According to the Word of God, you already have it! In fact, in Mark 16:17-18 Jesus said, “These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Although there are special anointings of healings that the Holy Spirit gives as He wills to various individuals (see 1 Corinthians 12:9), every believer has the authority in Jesus’ Name to lay hands on the sick and expect them to recover. All you need is to believe and act on the Word of God. For the Word tells us, “the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up” (James 5:15). You see, as a believer, you are an ambassador of Christ in the earth (2 Corinthians 5:20). And when you operate in His Name, by faith in His Word, God’s healing anointing will flow through you just as surely as it flowed through Jesus when He walked the earth. It’s not that there’s any healing power in you as a human being. You’re simply the “conductor.” You’re like a wire that conducts electricity from an electrical outlet to a light bulb. You’re connected to the Power Source! If you’ll keep that in mind, it will keep you from getting under pressure about whether people receive healing when you pray for them. You’ll realize that you’re not the healer. You’re simply the hands. He’s the strength. He’s the power. He’s the anointing. You’ll be surprised at what will happen if you’ll just begin to minister. You don’t have to be a great preacher or teacher. Just take your Bible with you and read healing scriptures to those who are sick. Bring along a good book on healing such as F.F. Bosworth’s Christ the Healer – my personal favorite – and read that to them. Ken and I have a friend who, when he first learned what the Word of faith could do for people, had a burning desire to share it – but he didn’t know how. So you know what he did? He would take Ken’s tapes and have little meetings in people’s homes. After the people listened to the tapes, he would pray for them and they’d get healed! They didn’t get healed because he had some special super-powerful anointing that no one else had. Back then, he was just a beginner. People got healed because they heard the Word and because our friend expected God to keep His Word and heal them when he laid hands on them. F.F. Bosworth said the same thing about himself. Many extraordinary healings took place as a result of his ministry, yet he professed not to have any special healing gifts. He said, “I just preach the Word and the Word brings healing.” So follow that example. Be bold. Believe the Word. Share the gospel however you can, then obey Jesus. Say, “Lord, in Mark 16 You said believers would lay hands on the sick and they’d recover, so I’m doing this in obedience to You.
